the vindication of dr. dean burk: fluoride really is a carcinogenic, endocrine-destroying, neurotoxin

Dean Burk Fluoride

“It is concluded that artificial fluoridation appears to cause or induce about 20-30 excess cancer deaths for every 100,000 persons exposed per year after about 15-20 years…..     More people have died in the last thirty years from cancer connected with fluoridation than all the military deaths in the entire history of the United States……   They (the American Cancer Society) lie like scoundrels…..  Fluoride causes more human cancer, and causes it faster, than any other chemical.” Dr. Dean Burk

Although I am not in any way an endocrine specialist, the most popular post I ever wrote (it’s currently pushing 6,000 Facebook likes) is called AMERICA’S THYROID EPIDEMIC.  If you read that or THESE OTHER POSTS, you already know how dangerous fluoride and other non-iodine halides / halogens are in your body, as they tend to act as endocrine-disruptors (HERE’S another example of this phenomenon), not to mention being carcinogenic.

For instance, were you aware that a massive government-funded study (Developmental Fluoride Neurotoxicity: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis) done by researchers at Harvard University crunched the data from dozens of studies, concluding in a 2012 issue of Environmental Health Perspectives that, “Children in high-fluoride areas had significantly lower IQ scores than those who lived in low-fluoride areas. The results support the possibility of an adverse effect of high fluoride exposure on children’s neurodevelopment.”  It’s really no different that the study published a couple years ago.

The March 2014 issue of The Lancet Neurology (Neurobehavioural Effects of Developmental Toxicity) stated that, “A meta-analysis of 27 cross-sectional studies of children exposed to fluoride in drinking water, mainly from China, suggests an average IQ decrement of about seven points in children exposed to raised fluoride concentrations.”  In other words, it’s becoming increasingly clear that fluoride is not a good thing to be putting into the human body as far as the brain is concerned — particularly children’s brains.

For decades, however, the dental community and ADA have touted fluoride as a preventative for DENTAL CAVITIES.  When I would ask my dentist(s) about this, I was always reassured that there are dozens of studies not only about how necessary fluoride is for your children’s teeth, but how safe it actually is (neither me nor my children ever received fluoride treatments).  When you have the oldest medical journal in the world saying otherwise (see above), it’s time to rethink the equation.  Speaking of equations…….

Dr Dean Burk (along with Dr. Hans Lineweaver) solved the enzyme kinematics equation back in 1934 that still bears their names today — The Lineweaver / Burk Graph Plot.  Burk was a rather sharp guy as far as scientists go.  He also discovered one of the B VITAMINS (biotin).  He as a co-developer of the MRI UNIT.  He also happened to be a friend and peer of DR. OTTO WARBURG, the German physician / researcher who won 1931’s Nobel Prize for Medicine for figuring out that sugar is cancer’s food of choice (HERE).  The two did a great deal of work together in the arena of photosynthesis (a plant’s ability to turn sunlight, CO2, and water into sugar).

On top of everything else, Dr. Burk not only worked as a professor at several universities, he served as the head of the National Cancer Institute’s Cytochemisty Division from 1938 until he retired in 1974, authoring something like 250 peer-reviewed papers along the way.  But it’s after his retirement that his expertise became a thorn in the side of the chemical industry, earning him decades of posthumous internet scorn from the ADA and other naysayers.   For nearly 15 years (he died in 1988), Dr. Burk beat the anti-fluoridation drum and was, like any number of others who have done similar, vilified for it (HERE’S ANOTHER).  Watch the first couple minutes of the video below and tell me if you feel he really cares.

The cool thing is that Burk, Fudenberg, and NUMEROUS OTHERS are slowly but surely being vindicated.   If you are curious about fluoride as it relates to cancer, jump on over to THE FLUORIDE ACTION NETWORK and browse the titles of their article list of peer-review on this and other fluoride-related topics.  Yet another of the endless reasons you cannot trust EVIDENCE-BASED MEDICINE any more than you can trust politicians.Open document settingsOpen publish panel
